Not machine raw as you would think.has a Gray color .not sure if it's been coated ?it does not feel smooth as the other raw parts.id return it but the hassle of it .the fit and feel are perfect that's the reason for the 3 stars. The raw is what I was going for and its not there.would of been 5 star review

Bought the 17" BLACK, not raw, not silver. 3.5 stars if that were an option.
Item arrived in good time, and seems to be good quality overall, sturdy, well finished, decent looking if a bit plain.
Two things of note on the downside. Item had two small ears/protrusions coming off the back end that lined up exactly with the main body of the upper and would not allow it to seat fully against said upper. At first I thougth they were supposed to be anti rotation tabs but too narrow to fit and too low on the body of the handguard for that purpose even if they had been wider than the rail base, which they werent.
As if it were intended for some VERY specific upper of which I have no knowledge and it certainly wasn't mentioned in the listing or package contents. Had to grind them off and refinish the aluminum prior to mounting.
Secondly, barrel nut seems to be nonstandard. Had to use a tool not intended for the purpose to seat and torque it. Bigger than 30mm and too small for 32mm crowfoot. Caliper measured it at 1.21" which is too small for a 1.25" which I don't have on hand anyway.
Don't know what the **** it is intended to be and almost bought a new barrel nut to just get it done. Once I made the necessary adaptations it seems to be a workable handguard overall, but I personally won't be ordering a second one. Any time I have to physically alter parts to make them work, I get tired of thoses parts in a hurry.

Since it got cerakot anyway it was nice to have it unfinished nice hand guard should have been twice the price

The rail is nice but screws stripped and top rail isn't the the same height as upper receiver

Ordered a 17" handguard and wanted it non finished raw aluminum and ordered a black one by mistake. I instantly realized I had ordered the black one and E mailed ohhunt and told them I had ordered the black one by mistake and to change my order to the 17" raw unfinished. I recieved an E mail very soon and all they said was "OK". That kind of made me wonder but I saw a refund on my credit card for $1.50 appear on it within an hour or so because the raw one was cheaper. Very honest company and shipping time was satisfactory and the rail looks and fits great. I am very satisfied with my purchase from ohunt.

This is not the first purchase I've made here, and it will not be the last, either. The hand guard is a good as any I've used, and since I cerakote a lot of my builds, having the raw finish makes color matching my other raw aluminum parts very simple, without having to spend extra time preping them! The barrel nut is well made, and the finished guard secures nicely without any problems. Thanks for a well made, well designed product!

The fit an function of the handguard is good. The area that could use a little work is the sharp edges on the rail edges and the cutouts for the M-lok. For me personally this is not a huge deal because i have a lot of machinery to make quick work of it. For the price one can only expect so much. For what I paid for the handguard I couldn't buy the metal or even the paint. I would definitely would buy again, this is just my honest review. I'll include a pic or two to show how i modified it

for the price they are made well,no defects.you can build ar platforms at a resonable price without spending a fortune on hardware.highly recomend buying

More rigid than I was expecting. Easy to install, barrel was centered properly. Be sure and tighten locking screws and use loctite. I ordered raw aluminum, but was sent anodized black with T-marks. Guess I got a free upgrade. These shipped out and arrive fast, even being just a couple weeks before Christmas.
